Thoughts, Impressions, and the Flagrant Flouting of Too Many Grammar Rules

  • Question: I picked up Song of Achilles (I read about it in Time magazine and thought it looked interesting) recently, and I think it might be something that you'd like. It's sort of a retelling of what history of Achilles is laid out in the Iliad only with he and Patroclus as gay lovers. It's not QUITE gay superheroes, but it's pretty darn close. But anyway, it's actually really good, and I think you should definitely give it a read! - my-current-obsession
  • Answer:

That sounds right up Dual’s alley! Thanks for the suggestion.

Dear Tumblr,

I accept your forgiveness, and I am happy that you understand exactly why I have neglected you for so long. Of course there was no way I could have torn myself away from Young Justice fic long enough to update. Comics fandom has existed for decades; I am so pleased you all realize that in order to make a dent in my to-read pile I had absolutely no choice but to abandon you for months. The only reason I managed to come back in the end was because I realized that half a dozen false starts later, I still had not found a single corporate espionage AU. Like twenty percent of superheroes are businessmen; how has there not been a corporate espionage AU? Answer: I don’t know, but be damn glad that there isn’t because that is the only reason I was able to drag myself kicking and screaming away from Kon/Tim fic long enough to reread this book.

By “this book” I mean this book.

  • Question: i've recently just finished shut out by kody keplinger, and i thought it was such a wonderful ya book that dealt with sex and the double standards between girls and boys, and i thought you guys would find it very interesting to read. :) - ventice
  • Answer:

That is definitely something that strikes our interest! I’m sure one of us will pick it up (probably Dual as she’s deeper into YA than I am at the moment), thanks a lot for dropping the rec into our box!

We’ve been talking about our favorite creepy stories, but we’re having a hard time coming up with things that are creepy as opposed to outright horror or dystopian! Really, any genre will do, so we thought we’d ask you to just drop us a response! What are some of your favorite creepy/scary books?

  • Question: AKLJDLIEKNDFLEIKNDLEUB<DCEKCNELJKNF <-- Translation. I just finished Deadline. Wow. Just wow. - legendaryguardian
  • Answer:

This ask has been showing up and disappearing like crazy! Darn you Tumblr. We’re super glad you enjoyed it. Keep an eye out for Blackout on the shelves in May of next year!

  • Question: I love your book reviews. Very insightful. Have you read "Please Ignore Vera Dietz" by A.S. King? It's not my usual type of story (I am shamelessly a chick lit person), but I really liked it, and I think you might, too. Also: your gifs are amazing, I'm very jealous, and where do you get them all? - my-current-obsession
  • Answer:

Thanks! This is Rachel answering. I haven’t read Please Ignore Vera Dietz but I’m looking for a book to read as I type, so I’ll check it out! We just sort of collect…our gifs…from thereabouts on Tumblr and Plurk. I’m definitely a gif-hoarder, heh.

P.S. to everyone, I finally read Entwined, and Dual was quite right, what a good book!

Dear followers,

I have a problem. My problem is The Vampire Diaries, and how I have a lot of gifs and am determined to use every single one of them, only most of them are extremely angry which causes difficulties because this was not an angry book. This was an exceedingly lovely book. So I’m going to have to figure out a way to write this review in a way that will allow me to use all my TVD gifs while still making it clear that this book made me want to swoon into a bowl of chocolate pudding and roll around until I drowned.

or i could do this HEH GETTING RID OF MY GIFS ONE BY ONE

So let’s get started.

  • Question: Hooray, I'm so happy that you reviewed Liar! I was just about to ask you to do it. Needed more GIFs, though. - suillineliterary
  • Answer:

Everything in the world could probably benefit from having more GIFs. I do not know how people ever survived without them. But I’m happy you liked it, and remember, guys: you are always welcome to send us recs for books to review! It, uh, might take us a while, but we definitely take note of all of your recommendations.
